Sri Lankan national selectors announced on Monday a 16-member squad for the Test series in Australia. Kisela Perera has been recalled to the national team for the series starting in Brisbane on 24 January. Pereira has struggled to make his place in the long format of the game, but in the recently concluded one-day series, a century against New Zealand has set a balance in his favor.

Kusal Pereira, who has played 13 Tests for Sri Lanka, replaces injured Angelo Mathews. Sri Lanka also made Donushka Gunathilaka out of the team while Dinesh Chandimal will continue to lead the Test team with opener Dimuth Karunaratne.
The ODI series did not succeed positively for the islanders because they were destroyed by Kiwi 3-0. Captain Lasith Malinga expressed regret and said, "We have to improve our middle-order batting before the World Cup. I think our players will learn from their mistakes before the next tournament. Thesara has done a good job but we need to improve our bowling, especially in the last 15 overs. I am enjoying my captaincy, this is the way to move forward with sharing my thoughts with the youth. "
Australia is ready to announce its squad on Wednesday. The first test will be played in Brisbane's Gabba from January 24 to 28, followed by the second and final Test in Canberra from February 1 to 5.
