Australia-India set for exciting finale

The two-month long international series between Australia and India is set for a fitting finish as The Gabba Test awaits another day five classic.

With the series equalized at 1-1 after three Tests, the one who wins will take the series and 30 World Test Championship points. Although India will only need to draw the fourth Test to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy.

India have been set a target of 328 runs but rain has forced an early call of stumps after the tourists added 4 runs without any loss of wicket on board.

Australia put 294 runs in their second innings. Steve Smith was the top-scorer – 55 runs from 74 balls including 7 boundaries.

David Warner got himself into runs with 75-ball 48, adding 89 runs for the first wicket with Marcus Harries, who made 38. Marnus Labuschagne played a brisk 22-ball 25.

While Cameron Green (37), skipper Tim Paine (27) and Pat Cummins (28*) added valuable contributions to drive the lead past 300.

Mohammed Siraj claimed his maiden Test five-wicket haul – 5/73 in 19.5 overs including two wickets in an over in the first session. Shardul Thakur took a career-best 4/61.

If India fail to win this match, they will fall below New Zealand in the WTC table. On the contrary, Australia will still hold the top spot if the match is drawn.
