Stuart Broad and Mark Wood took three wickets each, Ollie Robinson and Chris Woakes dismissed two Australian batsmen each.

In reply, the England team tried their best by scoring 188 runs all out in their first innings by using 47.4 overs. Rory Burns has gone with duck, Zak Crawley scored 18 runs, Dawid Malan 25, Joe Root (c) 34, Ollie Pope 14, Sam Billings † 29, Chris Woakes 36, and Mark Wood 16. Pat Cummins dismissed four English batsmen in just 13.4 overs with giving 45 runs. Mitchell Starc took three wickets, Scott Boland and Cameron Green took one wicket each.
