India conquer T20I series with Pandya show

India clinched the T20I series against Australia by beating the hosts by six wickets in the second T20I played at Sydney Cricket Ground.

India’s tour of Australia is getting quite interesting match by match. The hosts clinched the ODI series 2-1 comfortably. But Virat Kohli and his men managed to give a much needed come back in the tour with hattrick wins in the tour. The hattrick win ensured the T20I series win for India too.

Ahead of the second T20I game at SCG, Australia were struck with some major blows. Their skipper Aaron Finch was ruled out of the game due to injury and Mathew Wade took charge as captain. Mitchell Starc also left the squad due to personal problems. On the other hand, India missed Ravindra Jadeja due to injury.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field first. Australian skipper Mathew Wade opened the innings with D’Arcy Short. The skipper took charge right from the first over and bashed Indian bowlers in the powerplay. On the other hand, Natarajan bagged the wicket of another opener. But Wade continued his show.

Unfortunately, the Australian skipper lost his wicket for a runout after being dropped by the Indian skipper in the same delivery. The skipper scored 58 runs off 32 balls. Since then Steve Smith led the innings and scored 46 runs off 38 balls. With the little cameos, in the end, Australia managed to put 194 runs on the board for the loss of 5 wickets. For the visitors, the young Natarajan showed his class, picking up two wickets for just 20 runs.

With a big target ahead, Indian openers provided a solid start with 56 runs partnership for the first wicket, before the wicket of Rahul on 30. Shikhar Dhawan went on to pick the bowlers and brought up yet another half-century in the tour. The Southpaw batsman scored 52 runs off 36 balls.

The Indian skipper also fought in the chase well with 40 runs off 22 balls. Still the game was nicely poised and India were in a situation to score 25 balls in the last two overs. Hardik Pandya took his regular role as the finisher and took India over the margin. Pandya scored an unbeaten 42 runs off 22 balls and was also awarded as man of the match. In the end, India won by 6 wickets and clinched the series 2-0, with one more game to go.
