India lose a point in ODI Super League



India’s three-match ODI series against Australia was part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League. Everyone, including the Indian captain, was fined for slow over-rate in the first match of the series. Though the points were not deducted then, but 1 point of India has been deducted in the latest updated points table.

Australia won the three-match ODI series by 2-1. In the first two matches, India bowlers bowled miserably as Australia score 370+ runs in both matches. India took extra time to complete the allotted 50 overs in the first match. As a result, all Indian cricketers were fined 20 per cent of their match fees. However, the deduction of point was not mentioned then.

The Super League points table has been updated since the series ended. Where Australia have risen to the top. Their total points are now 40. And India are on sixth of the point table with 9 points. Which was supposed to be 10, but they lost 1 point due to slow over-rate. India started their Super League mission with this series against Australia and the team had an unexpected experience of losing points in the beginning.

So far, 6 teams have made it to the points list after playing matches in the ODI Super League. Australia are at the top with 4 wins and 2 losses in 6 matches and 40 points at 2.0 rates. World champions England are in second place with 30 points with 3 wins and 3 losses in the same number of matches. Pakistan are in the third place with 2 wins and 1 loss in 3 matches and 20 points. Zimbabwe and Ireland are in the fourth and fifth place with 1 win and 2 losses in 3 matches respectively.
