Kohli finishes a century-less year in ODIs after 11 years

Indian skipper Virat Kohli failed to score a single ODI century in 2020 and that put a break for his streak of scoring at least a century in the last eleven years.

India are off to a poor start in their long tour to Australia. The tour has started with the three-match ODI series. India lost the first two ODIs at Sydney Cricket Ground and so the series.

The third and final ODI is being played at Manuka Oval, Canberra. Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first. But again things are a little bit tougher for Virat Kohli and co as they are struggling with the bat in the ongoing game. At this moment, India are 170/5 with Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya at the crease.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli scored a half-century and yet again he failed to convert it into a three-digit score. Kohli lost his wicket to Josh Hazlewood in the last ball of the 32nd over when he was on 63 off 78 balls. A faint edge off the bat ended up the skipper’s stay in the crease.

With this dismissal, Virat Kohli completed a year without a single century. The has put an end to Virat Kohli’s streak of scoring at least an ODI century in the last 11 years as it is India’s last ODI of the year. He didn’t score a century in 2008 when he made his international debut. Since then he maintained the streak in ODIs and now it has come to an end. Only Sachin Tendulkar and Nathan Astle had scored centuries for most consecutive years than Virat Kohli with 19 & 12 years respectively.

Earlier today, the Indian skipper completed 12000 ODI runs. Also, he became the fastest batsman to complete 12000 ODI runs, surpassing the Master Blaster. In the second ODI, he crossed 22000 International runs, and again he is the fastest to do so at this moment.
