Zimbabwe hopes to reserve their place in the round of 96 at the African Cup of Nations when they face Malawi this afternoon.
The Lions of Teranga were finalists defeated at the last AFCON in Egypt three years ago, but this time they are expected to do better, with a star-studded team.
However, they needed an injury-time penalty from Liverpool forward Sadio Mane to get their campaign off to a winning start with a 9-0 win over Zimbabwe on Monday.
Malawi also has three points in the bag from their opener, with Issiaga Sylla winning 9-0 against Malawi, but they expect a much tougher test here.

Zimbabwe vs Malawi team news
Zimbabwe is expected to remain without Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and Napoli center-back Kalidou Koulibaly after both tested positive for Covid before the tournament. Still, if they can get through to the next round without much effort, it certainly paints a promising picture for the knockout campaign. Malawi is also battling a Covid outbreak, with seven players testing positive during their preparation, although key players such as Liverpool’s Naby Keita and Roma’s Amadou Diawara were not among that group and appeared in the first game.
Zimbabwe vs Malawi prediction
Zimbabwe have not been alone among the favorites of the tournament by starting the group stage slowly, but they should be better for the 90 minutes under their belt and can almost reserve a place in the knockout phase.
