Sri Lankan left-handed batsman Kusal Perera has been included in the 16-man squad for the forthcoming Test series in Australia. The 28-year-old, who was not part of the team during the recently concluded Test series against New Zealand, opted for the tour to be replaced by opener Donushka Gunathilaka in an ODI series against New Zealand, which gave him a hit. The century could have attracted the attention of the selectors for the Test place, especially after the lean leap of Gunathilaka, making only 16 runs in two Tests.
Angelo Mathews is missing another key name from the team, who suffered another hamstring injury during the Test series against Black Caps.
Suranga Lakmal, Nuwan Pradeep, Lahiru Kumara, Dushmantha Chaimira and Kasuna Rajitha attacked the captain for the disposal of Captain Dinesh Chandimal.
Dilruwan Perera and Lakhan Sandakan remain favorite spinners.
Sri Lanka will play a two-match Test series against Tim Paine in which the first match will be played in Brisbane from January 24, which is a day-night test. Then they will go to the raisins oval in Canberra for the second and final test, which will start from February 1.
The knot: Dinesh Chandimal (C), Kusle Mendis, Dhananjaya De Silva, Rosen Silva, Niroshon Dikewela, Kusle Pereira, Lahiru Thirimane, Sedera Samarawarikkrama, Dilruwan Pereira, Lakhan Sandakan, Suranga Lakmal, Kasuna Rajitha, Lahiru Kumarara
