Pacers lead from the front as Ireland level series 1-1



Ireland have got their second win in ICC ODI Super League as they have beaten Netherlands by 8 wickets in second ODI on Friday at Sportpark Maarschalkerweerd in Utrecht.

Batting first, Netherlands continued their poor batting form throughout the whole innings. They lost wickets at regular intervals and bundled out for 157 runs in 49.2 overs. Opener Max O’Dowd was the highest run-scorer of the team with just 36 runs.

Fast-bowler Josh Little was the destroyer again as he cleaned up the top-orders of Netherlands. He ended the innings with bowling figure of 10-1-39-4. Another pacer Craig Young also took 4 wickets.

William Porterfield went to pavilion in second over chasing the target. But inform Paul Stirling and captain Andy Balbirnie put on an 82-run partnership to confirm Ireland’s win. Sterling hit another half-century before he got out scoring 52 runs off 64 balls.

But Balbirnie made another good 67-run not out partnership with Harry Tector and grabbed the win to level the series. Balbirnie was unbeaten on 63 runs off 127 balls while Tector remained unbeaten on 30 runs off 59 balls. Logan Van Beek and Pieter Seelar took 1 wicket each.

Little was adjusted man of the match for his outstanding bowling performance.
