Shaw pulls off a stunning catch to dismiss Paine in practice match

India’s young prospect Prithvi Shaw was last seen in cricketing action in the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League at the United Arab Emirates. Even though he started off the campaign on a positive note, he failed to score runs as the games progressed.

The right-handed opening batsman fell for cheap scores and receive immense criticism from quarters. Shaw is currently involved in the practice game match against Australia A at Drummoyne Oval in Sydney. On the second day of the warm-up game, the fast bowlers hogged the limelight with superb inswinging deliveries.

Australia were reduced to 286 for the loss of 8 wickets. Experienced campaigner Umesh Yadav showcased his sheen with the ball by getting rid of Joe Burns and Will Pucovski. While Australia A were in all sorts of trouble, skipper Travis Head took the bowling attack to the cleaners by adding a 50-run partnership with Marcus Harris.

Prithvi Shaw made the headlines as he stunned the cricket fraternity by taking a stunning catch at square leg to dismiss Tim Paine for 44. Shaw’s brilliant catch helped his team break 102-run stand for the fifth wicket between Tim Paine and Cameron Green. The incident took place during the last ball of the 59th over bowled by Umesh Yadav.

Talking about the game, India A captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and elected to bat first. Indian youngsters namely Shaw and Gill were dismissed for a duck off James Pattinson and Nesser’s bowling. Rahane was the pick of the batsmen as he scored an impressive 117 including 18 fours and a six.

Pujara was the next best batsman for India A as he scored 54 including 5 fours. India A declared the innings at 247/9 in 93 overs. In reply, Australia A scored 286/8 in 85 overs, thanks to Cameron Green for his 114. As things stand, Australia A lead by 39 runs. The third and final day will see a great battle between the two heavyweights.
