Stokes ruled out of IPL 2021

IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals has been hit with a massive injury blow as England star all-rounder Ben Stokes ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

The 29-year old all-rounder picked up the injury in Rajasthan’s opening match in this year’s IPL against Punjab Kings on Monday. He sustained it to take a catch of Chris Gayle.

He was standing at long on, dived to take the catch of Gayle to dismiss him and successfully took the catch. But he felt discomfort right at that moment, yet he celebrated the wicket with his teammates. He continued the match after that but didn’t bowl any over. He completed one over before the incident.

In batting, Stokes scored a 3-ball duck and at last, his team lost the match by 4 runs.

According to the report of The Independent, the all-rounder will stay at India for one week and go under a scan here to understand the damage level before English Cricket Board (ECB) takes the responsibility and call Stokes back to England.

Earlier, Stokes’ both national and IPL teammate young pacer Jofra Archer went under hand injury for which his participation in this year’s IPL is also in doubt.
