Sumon wants to gain more experience before playing in national team

Young pacer Sumon Khan has gained lots of praise for the emerging team. Earlier, he also shined in the BCB President’s Cup and Bangabandhu T20 Cup. After taking four wickets in the only T20 against Ireland Wolves on Tuesday (March 16), Sumon has said he wants to sharpen his performance more before playing in the national team.

“I always work to improve. I try everyday to learn something new, to keep the process right. So this is how the last two matches have been good, Alhamdulillah. I had faith in myself, I am doing well from that point of view,” Sumon said.

Speaking about his strength, the 21-year old fast bowler said: “To bowl in the new ball, coach told me to attack in the stumps.  So that’s what I try. And in the case of slog overs, I think about the bowling variety. I’m good at yorker, I can have good back hand, I can bowl off-cutter, I depend on them.”

The National Cricket League (NCL) will start in a few days. Sumon is well motivated to do well before playing in NCL. He also has a dream to play in the national team. However, Sumon does not want to fulfill that dream in a hurry.

“Since red ball cricket will start in near future, the plan is to do well there. This platform is very important for everything, whether it is the national team in the future, playing on a big level, showing dominance at the international level. The more experience I can gain before playing in the national team, the stronger I can be mentally, the better I can improve my skills. So then playing in the national team will be easier,” Sumon concluded.
