Sundar, Thakur pull back India in game

The gritty partnership between Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar ensured a completely dominant day for India at Gabba, Brisbane.

The fourth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy is being played at Gabba, Brisbane. By the close of play on day three, the Test is well poised for some action packed sessions on the remaining two days, where the rain interruption is too on the cards.

India started day three with Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara. All the Indian middle order batsmen were off to good starts. Unfortunately they failed to capitalise the good start and threw their wickets away including skipper Ajinkya Rahane. Mayank Agarwal came down the order and managed to set up a mini comeback of 38 runs after horrible dismissals in first two Tests.

The failure of middle order resulted in a situation where the visitors were 186/6. There came the fabulous partnership between Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur. Both of them played with clean hitting and solid defence. The duo added 120 runs partnership before the wicket of Shardul Thakur on 67.

The partnership took India from 186/6 to 306/6 and cut the deficit by a big margin. The debutant Sundar also brought up his maiden half-century and scored 62. In the end, India were bowled out for 336 and gave only a 33 runs lead for the hosts. Australia started the innings well and were 21/0 at stumps on day three. The hosts are leading by 55 runs with two action packed days remaining.
