Suresh Raina comeback IPL 2022

The great Indian Premier League hitter will not be competing this season. Check Suresh Raina to return to CSK in the IPL 2022?

Suresh Raina’s passion and prestige in the Indian Premier League may be gauged by the fact that buzz about his comeback continues despite his going on to other occupations.

Raina, an all-time great in the IPL, held the record for most runs scored for a long time before being eclipsed by former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli. Raina earned the moniker “Mr. IPL” back in the day for the same reason.

Raina, 35, declared in August 2020 that he will retire from international cricket. Raina missed the IPL season that year since he was in the UAE, but he returned to Super Kings in IPL 2021 for modest results.

CSK made a major choice ahead of the IPL 2022 big auction, deciding to release their leading run-scorer. Raina remained unsold despite having recorded in the highest price category of INR 2 crore during the auction earlier this year.

Raina then joined a star-studded 85-member commentary team for host network Star Sports for the IPL 2022. Raina has since worked as a match announcer in Hindi with Aakash Chopra, Irfan Pathan, Mohammed Kaif, Ravi Shastri, and others.

Despite his spell as a commentator, there have been several stories in the media about Raina’s return to the game. With Chennai pacer Deepak Chahar ruled out of the IPL 2022 and the team still to select a replacement, social media users have urged that Super Kings sign Raina for the balance of the tournament.

However, neither the franchise nor Raina have announced anything official on the subject. If CSK decides to replace an in-form bowler with a veteran cricketer, it will be a big choice (specialist batter).

Raina, who has 5,528 runs in 200 IPL innings at an average and strike rate of 32.52 and 136.76 respectively, is the tournament’s fifth-highest run-scorer, but hasn’t played competitive cricket since the IPL 2021.
