Zazai, Wells guide Peshawar to PSL 2021 final

Peshawar Zalmi have picked up an another win in the second eliminator against the favorites Islamabad United by 8 wickets in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday (June 22) to clinch the final spot in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL).

They will play against Multan Sultans in the final on Thursday (June 24).

Islamabad struggled from the beginning from the innings batting first as bowler Hasan Ali came to the rescue at the end to help the team to post a good fighting total of 174 runs in 20 overs. Hasan played a cameo of 45-run off just 16 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Apart from him, opener Colin Munro scored 44 runs off 29 balls. Wahab Riaz and Umaid Asif took two wickets apiece for Peshawar.

Peshawar were dominant throughout the whole chase. They lost Kamran Akmal at the start but Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai continued his good form and hit another fifty before he got out scoring 66 runs off 44 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. Australian Jonathan Wells and experiences Shoaib Malik chased with comfort after that and won the match for the team with 19 balls in hand. Wells remains unbeaten on 55 runs off 43 balls while Malik played a very attacking innings of 32 notout form just 10 balls.

Zazai was adjusted man of the match for his outstanding fifty at the top.
